Citylife

The different districts in central Stockholm all have their own character.

Start your day in the hip Södermalm. Here you can stroll along Götgatan or Bondegatan to do some shopping. You will find unique boutiques that sell both high street fashion and vintage clothing. Stop here for lunch before you move on to the more touristy old town.

Gamla stan (the old town) is a place you shouldn’t miss when you’re in Stockholm. As most old city centres, it is popular among tourists, for a good reason. Walk through the charming small streets and cobblestone alleys and see sights like the royal castle and some beautiful old churches. If you want an adventure - try a rooftop walk in nearby Riddarholmen!

Continue to the relaxed residential area of Kungsholmen. Here you can stroll along the water and enjoy beautiful views over central Stockholm. Stop for a Swedish fika (a pause in the afternoon with a cup of coffee or tea and good conversation) at a cosy café.

Before the evening arrives, take the opportunity to explore Vasastan. Enjoy the afternoon sun in one of the many parks, take in the atmosphere and treat yourself to a delicious dinner.

From concerts with world-famous artists to poetry slams in tiny bars, Stockholm has everything you need to keep you entertained all night long. Go bar hopping at Stureplan or spend an unforgettable evening at the Stockholm opera house. After a late night on the town - make sure to go for a tasty brunch the next day!

Bring a picnic and walk or take the bus to Djurgården. It is an island next to the city centre where you will find lots of things to do.

The beautiful nature at Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde is well worth a visit. At Djurgården you can also find Skansen, an open-air museum where you can learn about everyday life in Sweden throughout history. If you want an adrenaline kick, spend a day at the amusement park Gröna Lund! Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen is a beautiful place to do some jogging during your trip. If you are not up for exercising – take a stroll here with an ice cream or a warm cup of coffee.

Adventures at sea

Take a trip around the beautiful Stockholm archipelago! You can reach the islands in many ways. There are regular passenger ferries, old charming cruise boats and everything in between. Read more about all the options onvisitskargarden.se.

Some parts of the archipelago, like populär Dalarö, are attached to the mainland, you can go there by bus or car. On the other hand, if you want to be surrounded by water and experience the open sea, you can go all the way out to the popular Sandhamn by ferry.

If you have your own boat, or a hired one, you can get even further out. The islands in the outer archipelago have both beautiful natural harbours and charming guest harbours you can visit.

Do you want to experience some culture during your trip to the islands? Take the ferry to the art museum Artipelag. After a 20-minute boat ride from the city, you can enjoy art exhibitions both indoors and outdoors, eat great food and walk around in the beautiful nature surrounding the museum.
